My son's new Madras quilt from PBK is ruined!

Okay, so 4/14/2010 I purchased my son's Navy Madras quilt from Pottery Barn kids, he grabbed the catalog and chose the one he wanted. So he runs to me today, going nuts saying his quilt is broken. So I find the problem and notice that the stitching has come undone on one part..I'm SO nervous thinking that they won't send another one since it's been one month. So I called customer service biting my nails. The woman that answered the phone was SO wonderful and nice. I gave her my order number and it will be here June 9th! I'm sending the old one out tomorrow. I'm so glad that they back their products..Phew..Let's cross our fingers that it doesn't happen again!

My new home exterior!!

Okay so we moved in March 8, 2003 into our home. The asbestos was yellow with muted dark blue shutters and azaleas in the front..It's come a long way since then..I still have some painting to do like the front door and putting vinyl rails up. It's a rather small home, but it's our home! Home is truly where the heart is!

The front view

side angle

The front garden was just a small patch of weeds and grass.

My restoration hardware doorbell is FINALLY ON!

This is a small image of before and after

You can see the small patch of grass and the white vinyl shutters I put up.

So we spent the day at Chick's beach on Memorial day

Bad picture of the Hampton Roads Bridge tunnel!

The weather was perfectly perfect, my tan is darker, and my children were wonderful...Strange huh? I just love seeing the ocean, the sand, and the blue skies. It makes me want to change my living room colors even more! When we bought our home in 2003, it was bare with tons of crosses everywhere...I have no problem..with one..but a million? So I painted the room a Behr Martini Olive green and bought a wallpaper border...Forgive me...I was 17. So now I'm on a mission to finish all of my rooms, BEFORE I move onto the room that doesn't really need touching. Any ideas would be helpful..this is what it looks like right now

Going to pick up one thing, suddenly getting tons!

Okay, so I'm a Stay at home mom of three, and I pretty much buy everything second hand, because of budget requirements and they love to play in the dirt...all the time...So, it's late winter, So the kids are playing outside (freezing cold-bad momma) with the neighbor kids. The neighbor kids have Power Wheels (atv, corvette, and jeep ones) Our kids..none..I grew up wanting to have a Barbie pink Corvette. My Mother being the budget queen said no. So I wanted my children to have a Power Wheels, it was basically my daughter birthday gift..SO I went to the store..and lo and behold..They are crazy EXPENSIVE..Ahem Ahem....So..I check out Craigslist..I was searching for 2 months and a man was selling a Volkswagen beetle barbie car for $50 big ones! I e-mailed him instantly and had a reply within the next day. So I called him, went to his home (LOVED HIS HOME, he custom built it) and checked out the Barbie car. Suddenly his dog started to bark and I followed him into his open garage. He said he had more things to sell...Okay...I love things..hahaha! He had a Barbie Jeep, that he wasn't going to sell..Me being me...talked him into it for $50 big ones..So I bought a bigger Power Wheels that my kids both could ride in for WAYYY cheaper than retail! As I was leaving he asked me, "Do you want to check out these things I have on my front steps? The Salvation Army didn't want them, so you can have them if you want them." My eyes lit up...Shelves, plates, Monet Books, etc..I loaded as much as I could into my Suburban..(Um hello..Giant Power Wheels in the back already) I gave some items to my mom and came home with my new treasure..lol..So I check out the cute beachy plates..They are brand new from Pier 1! The Shelves....wait for it....wait for it...POTTERY BARN!!!! I got dizzy and I called everyone that knows I'm a PB die-heart fan! So, why did the Salvation Army not want these GORGEOUS items?? I don't have a clue..I plan on painting them white..since they are oak stained...

Okay Okay...Natural wood...bring it on!

Okay, I'm not a huge fan of Natural wood color (OAK) , you'll find that out later. It can out date a room instantly! I hubby says he doesn't like it either..but..Why do I find him picking out pieces that are...Oak stained..dum dum duuuummmmm! So I went for the dark stained Mahogany coffee table and side nesting tables. I LOVE THEM! Well, before the coffee table, side nesting tables, there was..the natural oak stained console table. It was my hubby's mom's ( She was 100 % Comanche Native American) and her family made it. When she passed, her Widowed Hubby (My Father in law) kept it of course, and his Fourth Wife gave it to us, because they were moving to Belize and couldn't bring it. I was completely happy to receive such a beautiful piece, but worried..Did all of my living room pieces have to match??!! So I contemplated for 6 months..6 loooong months..On whether or not I should buy my coffee table and nesting tables...I bit the bullet and bought them..Paid off one year later, no interest! Oh yeah!!!

So I was in the 9th inning..I had a beautiful antique console table, my lovely coffee table, wonderful nesting tables, and a horrible media stand...I had been looking in catalogs trying to find another one and I have been looking in the thrift stores...No surprise that I didn't find one in the stores..or in the catalogs..I found one..On the curb!! I had driven past my now media cabinet for two days. I didn't want to be that weird neighbor, but it was a Thursday and My mother had come over. I was talking about it to her and she started to walk over to it..I f0llowed biting my nails knowing my neighbors were watching me through their sheer curtains..lol..I'm glad I walked over there and my mother and I carried it into my home. We carried the old media stand out to the curb...It certainly put up a fight! I cleaned my "new" media cabinet and grab my furniture pen. It has seen better days, but hey..It was so free, and built well! Philco is on the cabinet..So I researched...Philco Furniture...Didn't find anything..so just searched Philco...Apparently my "new" media cabinet used to have a tv or a radio inside it!!

This is my first post!!! Woo hoo!

This is my first post on my new blog!!! I just feel empowered typing these words right now!! Anyways, When you come and stop by, please stay a while..I promise I'll keep up! Well, I live in the Suburban Jungle right now, but I'm Super...and I mean Super..CLOSE to the Beach!! I love going. We have plenty of beaches here so I have one each day of the week! We are also pretty close to the OBX, and we spend some time down in Rodanthe / Salvo, NC.

I would say my Philosophy is to live life to the fullest, on a budget of course! I splurge and then I go cheap. My living room consists of Brand Spankin' new with "Where did you find that? On the street?" I also LOVE LOVE LOVE HGTV AND DIY, they have given me a strong will to do things myself! I love seeing new ideas, and when they show a Cape Cod style home like mines..I go NUTS! Yes Yes Yes..I have a Cape Cod style (WISH IT WAS REAL CAPE COD) home. Well, I can't wait to get up and running! Tootles troop!
